Rotary Young Chef Competition 2022: Canterbury Area Heat

The Rotary Club of Canterbury, together with the Rotary Club of Canterbury Sunrise, will host a local heat of Rotary’s Young Chef Competition, open to youngsters aged 11-17 years.

This is the first time that we will be holding a local heat; depending on its success we hope to make this an annual event.

About the national competition

**PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LAST DATE TO SEND IN ENTRIES FOR THE CANTERBURY HEAT HAS PASSED**

The Rotary Young Chef competition, sponsored by Filippo Berio, gives entrants the chance to put their culinary skills to the test and be judged at the final by leading industry professionals.

Entrants plan and cook a three course meal, develop their food presentation skills and gain experience in high pressure situations. You can find out more from the Rotary Great Britain & Ireland site here.

Special instructions for the local heat

The heat is due to take place on Saturday 5th November 2022 at Archbishops School, St Stephen’s Hill, Canterbury CT2 7AP between 10:00am and 12 midday. (Final details to be confirmed.)

Doors will open for setting up at 9.00am and for clearing up afterwards until 1.00pm

  1. Essentially, the task is to plan and prepare a three course meal within a budget of £22 for the ingredients.
  2. There is no fee for entry. For the Canterbury Area only, the Rotary Club hosts are prepared to advance the £22 cost of ingredients to entrants whose entry is selected.
  3. Places in the local heat are limited to 8 in total by the number of workstations available at Archbishops School. (There is a possibility of a further 2 stations being created.)
  4. In the event that more entries are received than the number of workstations, they will be dealt with on a first-come, first-served basis. If any school/college/youth organisation organises the submission of entries for more than one of its pupils it is requested to inform us in which order they should be considered. We will notify all entrants whose entries are selected, but regret that any not so notified will not be able to take part.
