Canterbury Yoga Studio raises £500 for our Ukraine appeal!

The yoga teachers and other attendees at Canterbury Yoga Studio recently raised £500 for our Ukraine appeal (to support the Disasters Emergency Committee in their work for those affected by the conflict in Ukraine) with a special open day on April 2nd.

Five yoga classes were available during the special open day – with tickets for the classes by donation for Ukraine. There was also tea and cakes, and a book stall, and a chance for attendees and other visitors to enjoy the lovely venue in Harbledown and meet some of the teachers. “It was a lovely day and we all enjoyed it and it was great we raised money for such a good cause too,” said Cora Kemball-Cook, who owns the studio with husband Richard.

We are very grateful to Cora and Richard and to all the the yoga teachers and others who supported the event.

We had already sent a cheque for £7212.88 to the DEC and are grateful to members of the public and Rotarians who gave so generously to our joint appeal (made together with the other two Canterbury Clubs: Canterbury Sunrise, and Forest of Blean). A separate cheque will made to cover the additional sum the Yoga Studio raised and any money coming in from those not able to attend the open day.

The online part of our appeal for the DEC remains open for the time being. We may be being optimistic, but it would be wonderful if (together with the Yoga Studio donation and Gift Aid for our collections) we made it closer to £10,000 in total donations! Please help us by donating here
