Once present in many countries, including the UK, wild type polio is now found just in two: Pakistan and Afghanistan. Globally, Rotary has played a key role in the eradication efforts through mass immunisation and health education programmes around the world. Over the years our club has been happy to raise awareness and support these efforts through various fundraising activities. (In case you wondered, the colour purple is inspired by the colour of the dye painted on a child’s little finger to signify they have received their potentially life-saving polio vaccine and has come to symbolise the fight against polio.)
After lighting up the church, a number of Rotarians and their friends joined a quiz night held at The Monument in Canterbury that helped raised further funds for the cause.
DONT FORGET! You can still download our “purple” recipe e-book for FREE – just click here for details. If you can, we’d appreciate a donation.
