Rotary sponsored trip to Wingham Wildlife Park

On the 22nd May several Rotarians took children from St Nicholas School to Wingham Wildlife Park for the Rotary sponsored summer outing, which has been an annual event for many years now.

This outing provides us with a special chance to help staff at St Nicholas School, Canterbury (a school for youngsters with profound severe & complex learning difficulties) give their students a day out.

In all, 10 children and nine staff went on the trip, with three Rotarians helping out. The sun shone and everyone had great fun and enjoyed the super picnics kindly prepared and donated by The Kings School, Canterbury.

As usual, feeding the meerkats was a big hit, and meeting some inquisitive lemurs was fascinating. The children and adults all enjoyed the dinosaur park, with the youngsters playing in the giant sandpit there.

The day ended with ice creams! Julie, the teacher in charge, said…”Thank you to Rotary for an amazing day. The children had a wonderful time.”

Our thanks to Wingham Wildlife Park, The King’s School and all others who helped make this day such a success.
