Rotarians in Canterbury: Ukraine collection – update

Delighted to say that the three Rotary Clubs in Canterbury have jointly raised over £1,100 to help provide support to Ukrainian refugee families that have arrived in the local area.

We recently posted about our collection for Ukrainian refugees with details about how the funds would be used — this collection took place last Saturday. We’re very pleased with the response from the public and are grateful to our collectors who braved the hot weather to help with the fundraiser. All funds raised will go to local charity Canterbury Umbrella which is acting as a hub to host various activities, working together with Canterbury for Ukraine (C4U).

Speaking on behalf of the Rotary Club of Canterbury, its President, Tony Loughran, said: “I’m delighted with the response from the local community for our joint fundraising effort. We hope this will help the Ukranian refugee families here, many of whom have left homes, schools and communities behind”.

Earlier this year our three Rotary Clubs in Canterbury united in a fundraising effort for humanitarian aid for those affected by the war in Ukraine; over £7,200 was raised and sent to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), with further funds to go soon. That appeal is still open here.
