Another American supper enjoyed by Rotarians

Our Members and guests had a wonderful chance to show off their culinary skills and enjoy each other’s company at an “American supper” the other evening – and we raised £300 for the Prince of Wales Youth Club while we were at it!

We held an “American supper” (bring-a-dish)-lunch back in October last year and it was so enjoyable we decided to hold another one – at the same venue, the yoga studio in Canterbury belonging to PP Richard Kemball-Cook and his wife Cora.

After being greeted with a champagne or soft drink reception in the evening sunshine, guests entered into the hall where the tables were covered in cool white covers, each with a pretty fresh flower posy in the centre.

So much food had been brought along that there was barely space to keep it all – the savoury fare included salade nicoise, coleslaw, smoked salmon, fish, lentil harissa, quiches, savoury pastries, couscous, tandoori chicken. vegetable rice and two types of coronation chicken! Desserts included fresh fruit, pavlovas, roulade, cheesecakes and fresh fruit crumble. We even had a platinum jubilee pudding!

Everyone enjoyed catching up on each other’s news and plans for the summer – and at the end of the evening President Tony Loughran gave huge thanks to our hosts Richard and Cora and all who brought food along and joined us for the evening. A collection raised £300 for the Prince of Wales Youth Club, which has been doing amazing things with local youngsters and has itself been supporting others.
