Donation towards the Salvation Army’s Toddler Bank

Did you know that the Salvation Army in Canterbury co-runs a toddler bank? Our club was delighted to give them a donation for £500 to help support the bank’s activities.

Canterbury’s Toddler Bank is co-run by Canterbury District Children’s Centres in partnership with The Salvation Army in Canterbury and aims to help those struggling with the costs of raising a young child; it has been a joint venture from its conception about 6 years ago between Kim Burgess of Canterbury District Children’s Centres and Major Mandy Sands of the Salvation Army.

It was a great pleasure for two Members from our Club – PPs Richard Kemball-Cook and David Lewis – to present them with a cheque to support their work. While there they also got a chance to see the range of items provided by the Toddler Bank. It has all sorts of things needed to care for a toddler – including  nappies, clothing, bedding, toys, books and much more. There are even some larger items such as prams, baby baths and Moses baskets. On occasion, the Toddler Bank can also put out special requests via The Salvation Army in Canterbury’s Facebook page for things that someone needs (such as a stair gate).

The Toddler Bank is usually open at the Salvation Army base at White Horse Lane, Canterbury, CT1, 2RU on Friday mornings between 10:30am and 12:30pm for pre-arranged collections.

If you need support or would like to offer help to support the Toddler Bank, please contact the team via Facebook, call them on 01227 472781, or email them at: canterbury@salvationarmy.org.uk.
