Sailor Ted to help raise funds for Guide Dogs

You may ask who is Sailor Ted…and how will he help raise funds for Guide Dogs*?

Sailor Ted is an intrepid sailor and explorer who prior to Covid used to travel the world by sea and river with our members. He is now once again on his travels. All our members are now invited to estimate the total number of nautical miles Sailor Ted will travel by sea and river between 1 October and 31 May each year. Members and their relatives may submit as many entries as they wish at £10 per entry. There is a prize of 20% of the total entry stake money for the member whose estimate is closest to the actual miles travelled. The balance of 80% goes to a charity of the President’s choice which for the year 2022/23 is Guide Dogs*.

It is really great to have Sailor Ted ‘back on board’ again following the pandemic. He has been very good in the past – we used to raise well in excess of £450 most years.

You can read about Sailor Ted’s first trip back in 2013 here
