Pentangular Presidents’ meeting in Leuven

President Rosemary Doyle and President Elect Maxine Blades attended the Pentangular Presidents’ meeting held in Leuven recently to discuss future activities across the five Pentangular clubs.

Rosemary and Maxine met with the Presidents of St Quentin (Francois Marquis; France), Leuven (Frank Op t’Eynde; Belgium), Lüdenscheid (Matthias Stich; Germany) and Leiden (Kai Okulla; The Netherlands); Pentangular co-ordinator Jean-Luc Leclercq (from St Quentin) was also present.

They discussed the progress of joint Pentagular projects (JPPs) being undertaken, and those planned for the future. These joint projects include:

  • JPP4 – Led by the Rotary Club of St Quentin (France) to help deaf children in Moldova
  • JPP5 – Led by the Rotary Club of Leiden (the Netherlands) to support perinatal health in Suriname

An overview of next year’s Pentangular visit to St Quentin was also presented. The visit will feature a day’s visit to Epernay – including the opportunity to sample some of their famous champagne!

In 2025 it wll be Leuven’s turn to host the Pentangular visit; they announced that this would coincide with their club’s 90th birthday celebrations, so it will be an honour to join them for this special occasion.

(Incidentally – we hope to be having virtual Christmas carols with our fellow Pentangular clubs soon. More about that at a later date!)
