MGSE 2019: Call for applications

Each year our Club supports two young people aged 18-25 years from the Canterbury area to take part in our Mini Group Study Exchange with our Pentangular partner clubs in Europe. We are now calling for applicants for this year.

This year the Mini Group Study Exchange will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Leiden in their beautiful town in Holland, between 18th and 25th August. Successful ‘ambassadors’ will get a chance to take part in social, sporting, vocational and charitable activities. All travel and registration costs are borne by our club – the successful candidates just need spending money.

Short-listed applicants will be interviewed by a panel of Rotarians including President Margaret Griffin, President-Elect Neil Fraser, Vice-President Alan Mepstead and Pentangular Officer Alastair Scott, using fair-selection techniques. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate three things:

  1. How they will benefit personally from being part of this international gathering
  2. How their selection will contribute to benefit of the other participants
  3. As they will be an ambassador of the Rotary Club of Canterbury, we ask that they demonstrate the ability to represent our Club

Full details and an application form can be found in the Young People section of our website here.

The deadline for applications is Friday 10th May.  Completed application forms should be emailed to: mgse@rotarycanterbury.org.uk

Mini Group Study Exchange is an activity of the five Pentangular partner clubs and, similar to our annual Pentangular meeting, it is hosted by a different club each year by rotation. MGSE was the brainchild of the late Vic Banks PHF who was President of our Club in the 1978/1979 Rotary Year.
