Memory Walk – Helping out the Alzheimer’s Society

Some of our local Rotarians joined up with others to help or participate in the Kent Memory Walk for the Alzheimer’s Society’s at the University of Kent. The actual Kent Memory Walk was held on Saturday 2nd September, with volunteers needing to go to earlier sessions to learn about roles such as marshalling. The two routes started on the lawns of Eliot College (a campus with superb views of Canterbury Cathedral); the short route, on paved paths, was suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs while the longer route took walkers off the university campus and into Canterbury, returning back to the event site.

The Memory Walks are Alzheimer’s Society’s largest fundraising event, with the target this year being £9 million. The money raised helps a variety of activities.
