Lendwithcare update, April 2024

Once more our International Committee has been able to give a number of small loans to entrepreneurs in developing countries via microfinance organisation Lendwithcare.

As we’ve reported before, Lendwithcare aims to help people in developing countries out of poverty with loans that help them set up or expand small businesses. Each of our recent loans of £45 have gone to help entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector, in countries ranging from Togo in West Africa to Vietnam in Southeast Asia.

The loan in Togo is to La Grace Farming Cooperative, which consists of six members that are producers of yams and cereals. A portion of the funds will be used to buy yam seeds; the yams can later be sold on or can help feed family members. One of our loans in Vietnam will go to a woman called Mrs Sao who will use it to help purchase female goats which she intends to breed and sell.

Our latest loans have brought the total number of loans since we opened our account in 2016 to 291. In total our loans are estimated to have created 852 jobs and helped 3901 family members.

You can find out more about Lendwithcare here – or click here to find out more about the support that our Rotary Club has provided. (There are many other Rotary Clubs that also lend via Lendwithcare.)
