New Member Ann Walker-Parry inducted

Another highlight from our meeting on Tuesday was the induction by our President Rosemary Doyle of new member, Ann Walker-Parry.

Ann has been coming to some of our meetings over recent weeks and months – giving her a better chance to find out more about us and how we work. Nevertheless, she was “introduced” to us formally by PP Stephen Thompson before Rosemary carried out the formal induction; Ann’s Rotary classification is Pet Care Professional.

As usual, Rosemary reminded Ann that there are responsibilities associated with being a Rotarian; she also mentioned how Rotary’s motto, “service above self”, represents an “attitude to life which we should all practice in our different ways, according to our abilities and circumstances”.

After a few more words of welcome, Rosemary asked Ann if she would like to say anything: Ann simply said: “I would not be here today if I didn’t feel so very welcomed”. She was then given her first tasks as a Rotarian – to announce the winner of our 100 Club draw and of our raffle!

We hope to share a brief biography about Ann in a future article, and we look forward to working with Ann on Rotary projects.
