Jim, who is a member of our club, has a very personal interest in the Auxiliary Units as his father was an auxilier. Jim spoke to our club about it all this during lockdown (by Zoom).
In his latest talk, Jim reminded us that the Auxiliary Units were a secret resistance network of highly trained volunteers prepared to be Britain’s “last ditch” line of defence during World War Two. They operated in a network of cells from hidden underground bases around the UK.
Jim also encouraged us to explore the website staybehinds.com (Bristish Resistance Archive) which is full of fascinating details including the names of many of the men and women involved – especially those brave personnel in the patrols local to Kent.
