Everyone will have seen the upsetting pictures emerging from Haiti following Hurricane Matthew. The country – an island in the Caribbean Sea which only a few years ago was devastated by a massive earthquake – is suffering from immense flooding following the storm. It’s thought that hundreds of people have been killed and many thousands made homeless.
Our Club is always keen to help raise funds for such causes, so members were out today helping with these fundraising efforts. On this occasion we were out in force together with members of Canterbury’s other two Rotary Clubs – Rotary Club of Canterbury Sunrise and the Rotary Canterbury Forest of Blean Club.
We would like to thank all the members of the public who generously donated to the cause – especially those who kindly donated their ‘first fivers’ (the new plastic £5 note).
