Counting in the ducks – Duck Race 2023

It’s that time of year that our Members start to prepare for our Annual Duck Race in Westgate Gardens – and one of the main tasks beforehand is counting in/out the ducks.

We’re hoping to hold the duck race in September as usual (Sunday 10th September, to be precise), and in the build up to it we need to check the numbers of ducks. This year our members counted ducks IN and OUT at the same time, the key task being to ensure that all numbers were present and correct. Quite a task given we have over 4,000 ducks in total.

Luckily the weather as fine, and doughnuts made the task more enjoyable.

The race ducks will now rest until the big day. Their non-racing fellows will be out raising publicity about the race – do keep an eye out for them. We’ll have details of duck stalls as soon as these become available.

With thanks to all the Rotarians that took part in the count, organised by Rotarian Raj  Dasan.
