Vocational visit Dover Transport Museum

A group of 21 Rotarians and their guests had a very enjoyable visit to the Transport Museum at Dover on the 18 April.

The museum, which is in Whitfield, Dover, is a registered charity that says it is the “only museum of its kind in Kent”.

There were all sorts of vintage vehicles for our visitors to see – ranging from good old bicycles to hefty steam rollers. There was also a model railway for enthusiasts. Also on display were a Romany wagon, an old fashioned blue & white police “panda” car, and an old Dover Mayoral car. All-in-all our group had an interesting time, and the visit (which was organised by our vocational committee) rekindled many memories.

“It was good to see vehicles of yesteryear once again, especially the steam roller used by Bretts in the early days,” said Rotarian Ian Wright. “It was also lovely to see many Rotarians playing with control buttons of the model railway!”

After the museum visit the group enjoyed lunch together at the Ramada Hotel in Whitfield.
