Back in September 2020 we heard from Gabriel Herbert, a volunteer for Mary’s Meals, who told us all about how the charity works; it’s a charity we have supported in the past, but it was good to hear how our donations are spent.
Set up by Scottish salmon farmer Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, the charity provides free meals to children in their place of education in around 19 countries around the world – including countries in Africa and South America. It helps those affected by “natural disasters, conflict, and the ongoing Covid pandemic”.
The matched-funding scheme will continue until January 2022, up to £1.6 million. As Daniel Adams, their Executive Director, says in the Mary’s Meals newsletter, “Together through Double the Love, we can transform the lives of so many more desperately hungry children.”
You can find out more about Mary’s Meals and Double the Love here. There you can also read the story of 5-year-old Patience, who goes to school in Zambia.
