Donating magazines to help with reading skills

Donations do not always have to be big or even financial to help make a difference. Recently some Rotarians helped a local secondary school with the donation of some magazines.

Our Club was recently approached by a local school which requested our help in an initiative to encourage youngsters to read. The school was looking for illustrated books and magazines that the youngsters might enjoy. Rather than the simple books younger children might read, the reading material needed to suit the age of the students and so maintain their interest.

Our Members did a search around and found some National Geographic magazines for sale in Burgate Books. These were bought, taken to the school and appreciated by the teacher. We hope to get the school some more magazines if we can find ones of good quality.
