Charity Film Night at Dunkirk Village Hall

Fundraising doesn’t mean you have to leave out the fun – so last night our Members enjoyed a bit of fun while raising money for the causes that we support by watching the comedy film “Keeping Mum”.

The film starred Rowan Atkinson (Walter Goodfellow, the vicar of a small English parish called Little Wallop), Kristin Scott Thomas (the vicar’s wife), Patrick Swayze (the American golf tutor, Lance) and Dame Maggie Smith (Grace Hawkins, the new housekeeper). It’s a very British movie with a bit of dark humour – there are plenty of reviews out there if you want to know more about it.

Over £350 pounds was raised during the evening. But, importantly, it also provided a nice chance for our Members to get together and enjoy a film in each other’s company. They also enjoyed some tasty pastries, cake and hot drinks organised by our President Stephen Thompson’s wife, Sue.

Picture: Our Members & guests look forward to the start of the film. Picture credit: The Rotary Club of Canterbury.
