Donation to PSBreastfeeding

We were pleased to be able to help a Kent based community interest company (CIC) with a donation towards the purchase of pumps so that mothers struggling to breastfeed can still give their milk to their baby.

The World Health Organization recommends exclusive breastfeeding up to 6 months of age, with continued breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary foods up to two years of age or beyond – but this can be a challenge for many mothers.

PSBreastfeeding (PSB) is a Kent-based social enterprise CIC that aims to support breastfeeding. Working with local bodies such as Kent County Council, they provide a number of services including: drop-in clinics run by qualified breastfeeding consultants and counsellors, one-to-one consultations with mothers, antenatal sessions and a breastfeeding helpline.

Recently they approached us via our Community Service Committee, asking if we can help them purchase some breastpumps. Our committee was happy to make a donation of £450 to cover the cost of three breastpumps. These will be loaned to families at a lowered cost. Rtn Maxine Blades visited PSB in person to hand over the cheque to Lactation Consultant Hannah Croft.

Hannah runs the specialist led drop-in group at the Oasis Cafe every Thursday 11.30am to 1.00pm.
