A cheque for £500 was presented by President Robert Boyd Howell to Andrew Spence, the Director of the Canterbury and District Branch of the Samaritans.  He thanked the club for this donation, which will enable five new counsellors to be trained to take part in the work of the Samaritans.

David Barton represented the Community Service Committee and Gerald Colson originally brought this need to the attention of the club.
