Rotary Supports Parkinsons UK Charity

Dr. David Barton and Colin McKone of the Rotary Club of Canterbury present a donation to Roger Clayton of Parkinsons UK. The Rotary Club of Canterbury has a long history of raising funds by organising charitable events within Canterbury. The success of this fund-raising depends on the generosity shown by the Canterbury residents over a long period. The Club is grateful for this continuing support and it is this that allows us to meet some of the needs of our local charitable organisations such as Parkinsons UK.

The Canterbury branch of Parkinson’s UK is extremely grateful to the Canterbury Rotary Club for its most generous donation of £400, which will enable it to provide physiotherapy sessions to its members, which are very beneficial to those with mobility problems.

Parkinson’s is a progressive, incurable neurological condition which affects about 127,000 in the UK. The national charity, Parkinson’s UK, aims to find a cure and to improve the lives of everyone affected by Parkinson’s. It does this through sponsoring research, providing excellent information, campaigning and fundraising.

The Canterbury District branch offers friendship and support to those with Parkinson’s and their carers. It achieves this by providing therapy sessions (aquatherapy, physiotherapy, reflexology), regular social events, talks, walks and group singing.
