New member Brian Wheeler inducted

Our newest member, Brian Wheeler, is seen below being inducted into the Club by President Viv Pritchard on May 12th, 2015.

Born in Belfast, Brian attended Belfast Royal Academy, then on to Queen’s University Belfast to read Chemistry.  Graduated with a First in 1966 followed by a Ph.D, the same year as he married Rosemary.  He then spent two years as a Research Fellow at Imperial College London followed by a similar two years at Trinity College Dublin. 

Appointed to the teaching staff of Methodist College Belfast where he remained for the next thirty years, Brian progressed to Head of Chemistry, Head of the Science Faculty and finally to Vice-Principal.  On retirement he and Rosemary moved to France for three years before returning to the UK in 2011 to be closer to their son Philip who is a GP in London.   

Brian joined Canterbury Bowling Club in 2012 and is currently their Men’s Junior Vice-Captain.
