On June 5th twelve Members of Canterbury Rotary Club visited Bretts Concrete factory at Chatham Docks, which makes components for lining the tunnels of the enormous London Crossrail project.
John Hill writes: We have to thank Tim Brett who arranged the visit to the works at Chatham Docks with Dragagos-Sisk the main contractor. Bretts laid on a coach to get the 12 Rotarians, led by Brian Dobinson, to the site, and provided a splendid lunch afterwards. Seeing an industrial plant of this scale, automated at every turn, with vacuum assisted cranes picking up sections of liner weighing tons like sheets of paper, was an eye-opener to us all.
