Innovation Competition 2024 – launch

Once again, in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University, we are delighted to launch our Innovation Competition for 2024!

The Innovation Competition has continued to find enthusiastic support from students and teachers alike, so we look forward to another great year of entries.

As before, there are cash prizes for the winning entry and two runner-up entries:

  • 1st prize: £300
  • 2nd prize: £100
  • 3rd prize: £50

There will also be a £50 prize from the Chowdhury Family for the entry best judged to help support global health.

Entries can be submitted by individuals or by teams of not more than four people.

Through the competition we hope to encourage secondary school (or equivalent) youngsters from local schools and colleges* to come up with innovative ideas and engage with STEM topics (science, technology, engineering and maths).

Entries need to come in by the end of March 2024; the final will be held later in the year in front of a live audience.

Last year an entry from Sophie from Dover Grammar School for Girls won first prize (an Epilepsy Smart Watch to pre-warn those with epilepsy of an imminent attack).

*For further information and details of eligibility and our latest competition poster, please visit this page. This year, excitingly, the competition will be open to youngsters in any area for which the STEM Hub at Canterbury Christ Church University is responsible (currently Kent, Medway Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Isle of White, Oxfordshire, West Berkshire, Reading, Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire).
