“I’m only here for the doughnuts” said one of our members who had joined the count out. But while the doughnuts certainly are a delicious treat, she knew that the task in hand was a serious one. The number on each of our 4000 + ducks has to be checked against a list before the race – our most important fundraising event of the year.
So, hats and Marigold gloves on, the counting took place at Bretts in Canterbury. Luckily the weather was perfect – sunny abut not too hot. It can be quite a chore; one member could be heard muttering “I’m starting to see duck numbers dancing before my eyes”!
Well, the ducks are all counted out now and ready to be thrown into the river on Sunday 10th September. Have you marked the page in your diaries or saved it to your calendars yet? And have you told your friends and family? There will be a Facebook event soon so we’ll let you know more details then.
With thanks to Raj for organising the count and doughnuts & to all the volunteers (Raj, John, Graham, Alan, Brian, Tim, Lewis, Robin, Neil, Biddy and Julie) for giving up their time for this.
