Just before Christmas our Club was contacted by a journalism student at the University of Kent called Reuben Flewitt. Reuben needed to film a TV package for an upcoming assignment and was keen to film the Santa’s Sleigh drive and fundraising efforts by the Rotary clubs in Canterbury for Canterbury Food Bank. “I thought that filming a piece about the drive and the reasons behind it would make a good human interest piece for my assignment,” he said.
We were impressed by his enthusiasm and initiative and were able to put Reuben in touch with Sinitta Nightingale, President of the Rotary Club of Canterbury Sunrise – the Canterbury club that organizes Santa’s Sleigh each year – and with Martin Ward, Chair of the Food Bank (and Member of our Club). We also invited Reuben to join us on one of our Santa’s Sleigh drives to see what goes on behind the scenes and shoot some film clips.
Reuben has just sent his video assignment through to us. “I’d like to say thank you to the Rotary Clubs and the Food Bank for the opportunity and help with my piece,” said Reuben. He’s currently waiting for it to be assessed by his tutors, but WE think he did a great job!
We can’t share Reuben’s video here, but we hope to share it via our Facebook page. The video helps us too as it gives us another chance to publicise our work and also that of the Food Bank.
Asked about Reuben’s video, Sinitta commented: “Reuben has helped highlight the need to support the Food Bank and the good work that it does for the local community. Together, with our Santa Float, we will continue to support those that need us the most. Thank you to everyone who donated money as well as food.” She added a quick message to Reuben: “Reuben, thank you for your support. We wish you all the best for your studies.”
Well done Reuben!
