A cheque to Thanington Neighbourhood Resource Centre

Members from our team that focuses on helping the local community were very pleased to visit Thanington Neighbourhood Resource Centre just before Christmas and hand over a cheque for £500.

As stated on their website, Thanington Neighbourhood Resource Centre C.I.O is a small resident-led charity. It was built to address the needs of a pre-war council estate in “an acknowledged area of poverty and deprivation, and in response to the many front-page headlines regarding community unrest and years of largely youth-centred crime and anti-social behaviour”.

Due to the cost of living crisis, some of the families in the area found themselves in very difficult circumstances; the Centre therefore got in touch with us to ask if we could help them.

With our £500 donation, the Centre was able to purchase a large microwave oven (suitable for defrosting microwaveable meals) and small tables and chairs – this allowed the Centre to host a Christmas party for children in the area.

We understand that the youngsters really enjoyed the party, and families welcomed the temporary respite from financial worries during the festive season. Of course the microwave will continue to help the Centre. The tables and chairs will provide a cafe area for people from Thanington to eat in the Centre if they do not have gas or electricity at home because of the rise in prices.
