Lunch at the Alma and a visitor from Canada

Over 30 members and guests enjoyed lunch at one of our favourite venues, The Alma at Painter’s Forstal, Faversham. We were delighted to welcome an overseas visitor – Margie Booyens, Past President of the Rotary Club of Medicine Hat in Alberta, Canada.

It’s always lovely when guests join us – especially when they are Rotarians from other parts of the world. Our President Elect, Rosemary Doyle, greeted Margie on behalf of the Club; as is custom, Rosemary and Margie exchanged club banners. The banner from The Rotary Club of Medicine Hat claims that they have the largest teepee in the world, and for those who might be puzzled over the name, Medicine Hat is the name of a city! According to Wikipedia,”The name ‘Medicine Hat’ is an English interpretation of Saamis (SA-MUS) – the Blackfoot word for the eagle tail feather headdress worn by medicine men.”

You can read more about the Rotary Club of Medicine Hat at their website, here
