Once again there was a chance for our President Maxine Blades to exchange our pennant with Rotarians from other clubs – this time with a member of a club in Brazil.
President Maxine and President Elect Raj Dasan were delighted to welcome Giuliana Martins and her daughter to Canterbury during their recent visit to the UK. Giuliana, who is a close friend of one of our newer members, Rotarian Aruna Jago-Brown, was warmly received, and it was a joyful reunion for the two friends.
Giuliana is a Past President of the Rotary Club of João Pessoa Norte, a well-established club in the large port city of João Pessoa, located in the northeast of Brazil. It was a lovely opportunity to strengthen international Rotary connections and celebrate shared values of fellowship and service.
As part of the occasion, the two clubs exchanged pennants as Rotary tradition dictates! Maxine and Raj were also honoured to receive a Brazilian national flag and several thoughtful gifts from Giuliana. Here’s to Rotary the World Over!
