St Patrick’s Day fundraiser for Prince of Wales Youth Club

We had an amazing time at a fundraiser hosted by the Prince of Wales Youth Club on Tuesday, where Irish music, dance, and delicious food set the stage for a memorable St Patrick’s Day celebration.

Irish acoustic band Camine, led by twin sisters Ramona and Zinta Egle, kicked off the evening with a captivating set of traditional Celtic folk songs and original tunes accompanied by fiddle, acoustic guitar, low whistle, harp, and stick bass. The rich melodies and harmonies instantly set a festive mood.

Next, members of the Dean Academy of Performing Arts, who are taught by Principal Sarah Dean and her talented team, took to the floor for a dazzling display of traditional Irish dancing. The dancers, radiant in their vibrant, costumes, had the crowd enthralled as they performed intricate steps with impressive energy and precision.

Guests (including fellow Rotarians from the Forest of Blean Club) were treated to a hearty meal of traditional Irish stew and vegetables, prepared and served by youth club members under the guidance of Youth Club Coordinator Joey Wicks. Dessert was cheese cake, a delightful sweet treat that capped off the meal. The bar offered a range of drinks, with Guinness, of course, being a favourite choice for the evening.

After dinner, Camine returned to the stage, delighting guests with more songs that highlighted their unique vocal harmonies and Celtic influences. The evening wrapped up with a lively Ceili, inviting everyone to join in the fun and dance together.

“It was a truly delightful evening,” said Past President of our club, Peter Hermitage. “Once again, Joey and his team delivered a fantastic event, and we’re thrilled that the proceeds will go to support the Youth Club and its invaluable work in the local community.” A bucket collection at the end of the evening will go to Shine, a remarkable charity that provides specialist support to individuals living with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, as well as to their families, carers, and professional care staff.
