A magical Christmas dinner to remember!

Last night we hosted this year’s highly anticipated Christmas dinner at our old “home” – the St Lawrence Cricket Ground in Canterbury. It was wonderful to be joined by over 65 members and guests to celebrate the festive season. We enjoyed a wonderful evening of camaraderie and fine dining – and had a magical treat too, thanks to Rotarian Roger Hickman.

Attendees were unanimous in their praise for the exceptional food and impeccable service provided by the venue. The atmosphere was warm and filled with holiday spirit, and the night combined Christmas tradition with a festive sprinkling of magic to add to the evening’s fun.

Roger Hickman dazzled diners with some mesmerizing performances. From deft sleight-of-hand tricks to thought-provoking feats of mentalism, Roger’s skilful artistry kept everyone spellbound between courses. The audience enjoyed Roger’s interactive approach, with none more delighted than the Lord Mayor of Canterbury and the Lady Mayoress, who enthusiastically participated in some of the illusions.

In a heartfelt address, the Lord Mayor thanked Club President Maxine Blades and the Club for its tireless commitment to supporting local charities and community initiatives. “The work this club does for our community is invaluable, and evenings like this remind us of the power of coming together to make a difference,” she remarked.

The evening concluded on a high note with a lively carol service led by pianist and Rotarian Robin Vickers, accompanied by his talented flautist wife, Avril. Their spirited performance brought a delightful close to the festive event, with members and guests joining in to sing beloved Christmas carols. It was truly a magical night to remember.

Here’s to a wonderful holiday season and another impactful year ahead for the Club!
