2019 Collection for the Lord Mayor of Canterbury’s Christmas Gift Fund

Our members were out yesterday at Canterbury’s New Dover Road and Wincheap Park & Rides, helping with this year’s collection for the Lord Mayor of Canterbury’s Christmas Gift Fund.

The Christmas Gift Fund has been providing grocery gift parcels to elderly, isolated, vulnerable and needy individuals and families in Canterbury and the surrounding villages since 1952, and over the years our Club has been happy to assist with its annual collection.

We are always grateful to those that give a donation … and a friendly smile is always welcome too, especially when the weather is cold and miserable! Every penny counts for the Christmas Gift Fund. They tell us that just £30 will buy a grocery gift parcel for an elderly person and will even help lonely people feel perhaps a little less isolated: £20 will provide a gift card for a child, who might otherwise not receive a personal present of their own.

Our collections on Saturday helped the Christmas Gift Fund buy around 11 grocery gift parcels. During the day the collectors were also joined by the Lord Mayor of Canterbury and the Sheriff of Canterbury, as well as the Christmas Gift Fund Chairman.

The Lord Mayor of Canterbury’s Christmas Gift Fund team have also been busy packing all of their gift parcels ready for delivery – they will be sending out 500 parcels in total. If you haven’t yet done so but would like to make a donation, you can do this via their website.
